Favorite Nashville Brunch Spots

May 21, 2018 in Food, Nashville

One of my favorite things in life is brunch. No, but seriously… Luke tells everyone that I basically live for it haha. It’s my favorite type of food and my favorite weekend activity. It’s a passion that I even take with me when i’m traveling… If we are going on a trip, I always scout out the best brunch places ahead of time and make a game plan. Lucky for me, my fellow Nashvillians seem to love brunch almost as much as I do, so there are many, many amazing brunch options here. Today, I decided to share some of my favorite Nashville brunch spots with y’all. If you’re local, you have to try them out if you haven’t already, and if you’re a visiting out-of-towner, make sure to put them on your travel list.

Proper Bagel

I tell everyone that comes into town to go to Proper Bagel. I am totally addicted to it. If you follow me on Instagram, you’ve probably seen multiple feed and story posts of this little slice of heaven. It was started by NYC natives, and, clearly, New Yorkers know their bagels. With cream cheese flavor options ranging from birthday cake to veggie, the choices are plentiful. Don’t want “a bagel and schmear” (name that movie), no problem. You can choose your bagel and make all sorts of sandwiches with fresh ingredients like avocados, eggs, deli meats, salmon, cheeses, bacons… all of it. My personal favorite is the New Yorker (bacon, egg, cheese, ketchup (no ketchup for me)) on an egg bagel. I always choose the sweet potato hash as my side. They also serve Barista Parlor coffee here… you have to try the lavender, honey latte!

The Perch

Obsessed—probably my favorite in-and-out spot. They’re known for their crepes: sweet, savory, or create-your-own. The gouda grits, Belgian waffles, and coffee selection (“best chocolate bar ever” is my fave) also contribute to the allure of stopping in at least a few times a month. On top of the fact that the food is amazing, they get brownie points because they serve brunch and breakfast here every day of the week, not just on the weekends. They have three locations in Nashville, but I’m partial to the Brentwood spot on Franklin Road because it’s five minutes from my house. But, they’re all adorable and deliver on deliciousness.

Le Sel

If you’re into aesthetics and ambiance, this is your place—pink velvet booths, French bistro chairs, black and white floors, tea/coffee kettles and sugar cubes. If you’re “brunching for the gram,” Le Sel should do the trick. The food is really good, too, so you don’t have to choose between a trendy pic and a tasty brunch. It’s located near Music Row, and although parking in that area can be tough, they offer complimentary valet parking. The French inspiration, dainty details, and yummy food make this spot top-notch (especially for a girl’s day).

Edgehill Cafe

I love Edgehill. It has a modern-yet-classic design, with a sleek interior full of white brick and velvet accents. It almost has a minimalistic, old-timey-library feel to it (but in a cool way). The food and coffee are good, and there’s plenty of space inside. This is a great spot for a brunch, especially when you want to stay and do some work on your laptop after you finish eating. It’s like a glorified coffee shop with better-than-usual food options. It’s close to downtown, but not right in the middle of all the hustle, which is great, too.

Kitchen Notes

This is an ideal spot for bigger groups and has something that everyone will love. It’s in the bottom of the Omni Hotel downtown, so it’s a convenient option for people visiting or staying downtown. Every Saturday and Sunday, they do a huge breakfast buffet, complete with omelets, pancakes, waffles, fresh fruit, biscuits and house-made jams, granola, oatmeal, grits, pastries, etc. You can also order from the menu. The vibe is bustling and busy, and I’ve always thought this was such a fun spot to fuel your body with yummy food and kick off your morning.

Honorable mentions:

  1. Biscuit Love– Located in the Gulch and known for their incredible biscuits, but near impossible to get seated on the weekends. Good luck!!
  2. Puffy Muffin– They serve breakfast every day until 2pm and have an extensive menu that can make anyone happy. Incredible bakery, and the best fruit tea ever.
  3. The Honeysuckle– Great for people more in the Franklin and Cool Springs area. Get the biscuit board, and thank me later.
  4. Marsh House– You can find this upscale brunch spot in the bottom of the Thompson Hotel in the Gulch. It’s perfect for those who like a seafood-inspired brunch. Be warned though, this spot is pricey!
  5. Taco Mamacita– Fantastic if you’re looking for breakfast with Mexican flare. Breakfast tacos, please and thank you.

Thinking I’ll do another post sometime of my favorite coffee shops around Nashville. Although these sometimes go hand-in-hand, if I combined them together in a single post, I would be typing forever and would definitely lose you. I’ll link a couple of my favorite weekend brunch shirts below because, you know, #extra. Hope everyone has a happy Monday. xoxo.
