First blog post and I say let’s just go ahead and kick this thing off with an #ootd, shall we? If you want to read more about me and this little blog, you can do so here!
Anyone else feel like this has been the slowest seasonal transition ever? I know I can’t be the only one that is over the ridiculous weather that has been plaguing the South and the East Coast the past month or so. It looks like we are maybe almost in the clear from the cold (today was glorious), but still in for some chilly mornings and evenings at best. In my opinion, March and April mean it is time for flowers, pastels, light and fresh meals, and WARM (not hot) weather and that is not what we have been experiencing. Nashville has been so hot and cold (literally and figuratively) and cannot seem to get its act together. Dressing for the new season while still being temperature appropriate seems to be an ongoing struggle in the South… both in the spring and fall seasons. Am I right? Usually around this time of year, even if I’m wearing long sleeves and pants, I start to incorporate more floral patterns and fresh/lighter colors.
I’m obsessed with these tapered leg, black trousers… they seriously work for year-round wear. I found this blouse on clearance at Target several weeks ago (the Who What Wear Collection is just too good, y’all) and it legitimately looks 20 times more expensive than what I paid for it. Don’t you love when that happens? I paired this outfit with some cream booties and a pink, shoulder bag to lighten up the look. It’s crazy what a little bit of color after months of dark winter-wear can do for your psyche haha. Even though so many of our days have been beautiful to the eye, they’ve still been a bit too chilly to bust out shorts and short sleeve tops (with the exception of today). I’ve found that adding a few lighter touches through pops of color and prints to my outfit is a great way to accomplish appropriately dressing for the season AND weather.
Here’s to hoping that wherever you are, you’ve already been enjoying some real spring weather for several weeks now. Do you have any tips on dressing for the new season when the weather channel app is telling you it’s not quite time yet? If so, I’d love to hear! xoxo.
