Hi friends, hope you all have had a great week. I’m just over here anxiously waiting the arrival of baby boy. As I’ve mentioned before, we’ve been so blessed by family and friends and have had wonderful support as we have been preparing for our little one. It really is such a special time and to be able to share it with those around us has been a true joy. We’ve been so fortunate and have had several baby showers to help us get ready for our little guy. Luke and I both have been beyond overwhelmed at the love that has been shown to us and our little one.
1. Dothan Shower
This was my first shower. It was back home in Dothan, AL (where my parents still live) and thrown by some of the sweetest ladies from our church. For those of you who may not know, my dad is a pastor and has been at his current church for 17 years. Lots of the sweet people of Ridgecrest have basically watched me grow up. If they didn’t know me when I still lived back home, they’ve heard enough about me to basically feel like they know me (I’m known to be a sermon illustration every now and then ha). I’m super close with my parents and always love going down to their house for visits… this time was no exception and carried even more excitement with the anticipation of the first baby shower I’ve ever had. In addition to my other online registries, I registered at a very popular baby boutique in town (it’s the same place we ended up purchasing all of our nursery furniture from as well). It’s basically like a baby heaven and there is EVERYTHING you could imagine for baby. The shower was held at the church and decorated with the prettiest pastel blues and whites, scripture cards, and sheep. Between being able to spend 5 days with my parents and the baby shower, I was so overwhelmed (in the best way) by the love and generosity that was extended to my growing little family from all those around me. Love my sweet Caroline. Bestie from middle school, high school, and college. Sweetest hostesses.
Love my mama!
2. Clarksville Shower
Luke is from Clarksville, TN (about 50 minutes north of Nashville). This shower was hosted by some of my in-laws’ close family friends. It was such a sweet day and so fun to be around Luke’s family and family friends that I have had the pleasure of getting to know over the past 6ish years. Although several of my friends weren’t able to attend, it was still such a fun day! The shower was natural and woodland themed… so cute and perfect for a baby boy shower. And the cake… the cake was to die for (both aesthetically and taste wise). Luke’s grandmothers both live out of state, one in Kentucky and one in Florida. We don’t get to see them as much as we would like, but Gaga was able to come down for the shower from Kentucky and it was so special for her to get to be a part of the day as well. Luke showed up at the very end of the shower to help load gifts into the car and see some of his family. Again, I ended the day feeling so much gratitude for the generosity that was shown to us and had such a happy heart. I mean, this cake… so good! Love my sissy!

3. Life Group Shower
Our life group at church got together and planned a shower for our little guy. It was a different take on your typical baby shower… a Saturday night cookout filled with rounds of cornhole, burgers, ice cream, and such fun fellowship. It was a couples thing which was super fun to have the guys around and get to hang out as well. Additionally, it was casual (I wore my trusty maternity overalls and “squirrel shoes”, you know the ones). As much as I love dressing up, it was great to have a kind of lower key event as life had been quite crazy in those surrounding weeks. Everything was decorated with Auburn colors… from the onesie banner to the balloons and paper goods, which fit in with the casual feel and time of year perfectly. Our friends were so sweet to help us prepare for little man and we were so grateful. I didn’t take many pictures at this shower (very unlike me… ugh) because we were just in total hang out mode, but it was such a fun evening!
4. School Shower
This one actually just happened yesterday. I’m a speech therapist at a preschool and while i’ve been working now out of grad school for 5 years, this is my third year at my current location. I started at this early learning center the same year that the district opened it (in 2016) and most of the same employees from day one are still there. It really is such a fun group and everyone has gotten to know each other pretty well over the past few years. I’ve become especially good friends with the special education teacher and one of the classroom teachers. They know me the best and added a couple of extra touches that are “very me” during the little event (glitter, gold balloons, a Publix cake… you get the idea). After the kids went home yesterday, we had cake, punch, and snacks and the staff at school was just so sweet to celebrate Little Man and I. Sounding like a broken record here, but it’s the absolute truth… I ended my day with such a full heart and was just floored by the generosity of those around me. Emma, the special education teacher, and I have had our desks right next to each other for the past 3 years. We eat lunch together every day. She always decorates my desk, brings in treats, and is seriously the most thoughtful soul you’ll meet. Yesterday and today were very bittersweet… darn these pregnancy hormones haha. In lieu of getting sappy here, I’ll cut this off after this… but as excited as I’ll be to be at home with my little guy, I will dearly miss working with such a wonderful group of women every day.

I also wanted to mention that the specific group that Luke works with in his law firm had a surprise shower for him one morning with a big breakfast and gifts. I seriously couldn’t get over that and just thought that was cutest thing. They were beyond generous with all of the sweet and practical gifts they gifted. The amount of diapers and wipes they provided was insane and every new parent’s dream ha!
Wrapping it up after this, but in addition to our showers, we’ve received so many precious gifts in the mail from family and friends that couldn’t come to showers or people who just wanted to send us a blessing. We are so beyond thankful for everyone who has played a role in helping us prepare for our sweet baby boy coming (hopefully very) soon! If you’re reading this as someone who has given/sent a gift, please know that I’m still working on thank you notes! Pregnancy carpal tunnel is no joke and has hindered me from being able to crank through them as quickly as I would have liked.
If you made it through this whole post, bless you. I know I’ll remember these sweet days in my head, but I wanted to document them through pictures and words as well so that one day I can look back and almost relive them a bit. I’m just so darn sentimental right now, y’all. I’ll link what I can from my outfits below. Happy weekend! xoxo.
