Happy unofficial start to the summer! I always feel like Memorial Day weekend is when we really kick off the new season. It’s a great weekend for cooking out, hanging by the pool, heading to the beach or lake, and spending time with friends and family.
More importantly, Memorial Day is a time to reflect on and remember those who have served in our military and paid the ultimate sacrifice for our country. There are countless military men and women—and their families—who have selflessly given so much so we can live in freedom, and that’s something that I never want to take for granted. Like many others, I often let this slip to the back of my mind, so I’m particularly fond of Memorial Day, as it (rightfully) returns my focus to their sacrifices. To any readers who are serving or have served in the military, and their families, I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart. Without you all defending our freedom, I wouldn’t be able to enjoy many of the frivolous things I write about on here, so please know that I appreciate what you do.
