“Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her: Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all.” -Proverbs 31:28-29
There is so much to cherish about the women in our families, especially moms. I’ve always been super close with my mom, and that bond has only grown stronger the older I have gotten. Not only is she my mom, but also one of my very best friends. She has always been such a wonderful role model of what a Godly wife and mother should look like. She is truly the most selfless woman I know and is always putting others’ wants and needs (especially her family’s) above her own. When I was growing up, I recall mom would never buy things for herself because she was always using any extra money in the budget to spend on me. She has sacrificed so much over the years, and I always want her to feel appreciated, loved, and special. Especially on Mother’s Day, I love getting to dote on her and make her feel cherished.
I’m also fortunate that I have been blessed with a wonderful mother-in-law, and we have a great relationship (I’ve heard so many other girls talk about that not being the case for them). She is so dedicated to her family, and she has always welcomed me and treated me as one of her own, even when Luke and I had just started dating. She only lives about an hour away and routinely offers to help us with home projects, keep the dog when we go out of town, or swap cars with us if we need to borrow Dr. Steve’s truck, etc. These things almost always happen because she offers on her own, having thought of us, before we even could have asked.
Although mothers should be celebrated EVERY day, it’s Mother’s Day when we most often remember to truly spoil our mamas and all the other amazing women that impact us. This year, as my mom and mother-in-law are soon-to-be grandmothers, I can’t wait to gift them with something a little sentimental (but I won’t give too much away because they both read my blog ha).
On the topic of gifting, I want to share with y’all a fun, functional option for gift wrapping from a company I’ve been a fan of since college: Scout. These three bag styles come in a variety of patterns that are perfect for moms with traditional or sassy styles, and every style in between. Since Mother’s Day always occurs in May and is such a cheerful holiday, I love to use bright colors to wrap my gifts.
I love how these bags come in several different sizes and are extra durable, being made of Scout’s signature all weather woven material.
Probably my favorite thing about these bags is that they’re reusable, which makes them perfect for wrapping more gifts or using as totes. They fold up and store completely flat. I like to keep mine in my car or in the downstairs closet, as I always seem to throw extra things in a bag as I’m running out the door. As many women are known as “bag ladies”, suddenly, gift wrap has become the perfect little accessory.
Obviously, there is no reason to limit these spunky bags to just Mother’s Day. They are perfect for wrapping graduation, birthday, and wedding/baby shower gifts as well.
You can check out all bag sizes and patterns (and a bunch of other amazing products) by heading here: Scout Reusable Gift and Tote Bags. Make sure to use the promo code WRAPCOLORFULLY for free shipping and a gift with any purchase over $50.
This Mother’s Day will be extra special, as I am pregnant and already starting to have some maternal instincts about the sweet babe in my tummy. I am also fortunate in that both my mom and mother-in-law will be around this weekend as we celebrate baby and find out what the gender will be. I’m thinking this might just be the best Mother’s Day yet! xoxo.
