Summer Travel Essentials for Little Ones

travel essentials for little ones

Momkindness Tote (“15Karis” for 15% off your order)

Summer is my favorite season. I love the warm weather, long days, and flexible schedules. I especially love it as a mom… the memories I’m making with my boys are just so fun. From lake weekends to beach trips to pool days to popsicles on the patio, we’re outside a lot. I’m sure many of you are packing up for vacations or weekend getaways with your kiddos while school is out. Traveling with little ones is no joke and it seems like there is always SO MUCH STUFF to load and tote around. Planning and organization are key to traveling with little ones and I’ve discovered lots of amazing products over the past couple of years that make summer (or any) adventures a little easier. Today, I’ve rounded up my favorite summer travel essentials for little ones.

First things first, packing up all the things. I love the Momkindness Day and Away Tote. It’s available in two colors, has storage pockets (inside and out), zips on top, and holds a ton! The Momkindness team has been generous enough to give me another code to share with y’all, 15KARIS for 15% off your order (my other Momkindness reviews found here and here). That brings the tote down to only $67 dollars. On the inside, use this Clear Pouch Trio by Totesavvy to pack up pacis, small toys, toiletries, sunscreens, chargers, you name it. This trio can work great for packing your own things or organizing snacks for the car as well… it’s a very versatile set. I also LOVE the travel organizer by Totesavvy...it makes planning out outfits for a trip so simple and has a spot for hanging clothes on the back. It folds up and can fit into your bag or tote. Genius. Each of my boys have one of these seersucker, monogram dopp kits/toiletries bags from Holland Hart Designs. They are wipeable on the inside and available in several different colors with lots of monogramming options. This shop is one of my favorites on Etsy for little ones.

Next, the actual “getting there” part. Whether you’re roadtripping or flying, entertainment is the name of the game. We’ve actually never flown with our littles, but have done lots by car. This toy is great because the pieces are on strings and can’t fall on the ground. It keeps hands and minds occupied with a lot of pieces without the “losing the pieces” component haha. I think I first discovered this toy a few years ago after Katey from Chronicles of Frivolity posted about it being a godsend on a plane ride. These sticker books from Melissa and Doug are wonderful and reusable and a doodle board is great for constant creation. I’m just going to say it how it is here… we are not above some car screen time. We don’t do it the entire trip, but Bodie is in the “are we there yet?” stage after only being gone for 5 minutes, so some educational programming is wonderful to help us get to our destination without losing our minds haha. We use this headrest to put the tablet in… it keeps him looking forward instead of down to avoid any potential carsickness mishaps. This snack cup is great (soft, has a lid, and is dishwasher safe) and, if you need to take any eating utensils, these are fantastic (we use them at home and on-the-go). They fit into a plastic case and also bend facilitating eating with utensil skills for toddlers. These disposable placemats work well for lunch breaks during a road-trip, at a restaurant, and would do great to put on the seat-back table on a plane. We have grown to love this travel stroller. It’s just under $50 and packs up easier for a trip than our big one.

A pop-up playpen is a must with a baby. We have and love this one by Baby Delight. It comes with the canopy which is great and fits in a travel bag so it packs without taking up hardly any room at all. Same for this GoPod. It’s like a portable exersaucer… there are several little hooks for toys, a cup holder, and it folds up and fits in a bag like a tailgating chair. We recently purchased a Slumberpod for our lake weekends. Coop goes to bed before anyone else and, with the shared space he sleeps in, we need him to have his own little sleeping bubble while not limiting the rest of us. The Slumberpod truly is amazing and total blackout. There’s a spot for a fan on top, a pouch for the baby monitor, and then we just put the sound machine underneath the pack-n-play. Works like a charm. If you were staying in a hotel, I think this would be invaluable. I don’t have this portable tub, but it looks amazing. It folds nearly flat so it’s easy for packing or, if it’s popped open, you can store/pack other things inside. There’s a drain plug in the bottom to easily get water out after use. This fan is a must-have for summer and we love this UPF 50 bucket hat along with this sunscreen for the boys.

While this list could go on and on, these are some of our favorite travel essentials that are practical, functional, and packable. If you’re a parent, I would love to hear some of your travel essentials for little ones are.

Hope you have a great week. xoxo.
