The sunshine, the longer days, color starting to pop up everywhere… goodness, I’m so glad spring is here! It gives me such a mood boost and puts a little pep in my step. I’ve been styling colorful pieces from my closet more frequently and am coming out of my days of non-stop leggings and sweatshirts. Don’t get me wrong, I still have those days but, in general, spring has a way of getting me to start dressing up more on the regular and bringing more color back into my life. Without hesitation, I can tell you that I have found my new favorite dress and it’s been giving me life the past month or so. From the fit to the quality of material to the print to the story behind it, the Elizabeth dress by Alivia (I’m wearing the piñata posies print) is my new go-to dress and I can’t get enough. It features an asymmetrical hem, functional buttons, and is killer pop of color. I’ve styled it two different ways in this post to give just a glimpse at how versatile it is. Dress it up for date night or throw it on with sandals and a big tote for running your weekend errands. **Make sure you scroll to the end of the post for a discount code**

Obviously, the cut and print of this dress is fabulous, but my absolute favorite thing is the meaning behind this dress and the mission of the company. I discovered Alivia at the beginning of the year and was immediately blown away by the brand and what they were doing. Alivia creates womenswear that stems from the art and designs of creators with disabilities. Their goal is to use fashion to connect conscious consumers with the talents of people with disabilities. Alivia also gives back 10% with each purchase to a local nonprofit partner that is associated with the product and creator. For example, The Elizabeth dress that I’m wearing was inspired by the artwork of Kevin Wu. He attends art therapy at the Center for All Abilities (a non-profit where adults with all abilities can attend enrichment programs that allow them to thrive within the community), so 10% of the purchase of the dress pictured would be donated to that center. I love that. Additionally, each Alivia piece has a code inside the tag that you can scan with your phone and read the story behind it and learn about your own impact from purchase. I’ve never seen anything like that before and it’s such a great way to create a connection between consumer and clothing.
I also have an Alivia knot headband (pictured below). My headband collection is extensive, so this is saying something, but this one is seriously the most comfortable one I own… like I can wear it all day and not even notice that it’s on my head. All Alivia headbands are created through Project A, a vocational training program. You can read more here, but every Project A product is sustainably upcycled from fabric scraps that otherwise would have gone to waste. All Project A employees are paid at least minimum wage, and enjoy a safe and inclusive work environment. Instructors, therapists, and volunteers work with the employees to encourage and support them. I could go on and on, but it is truly incredible what Alivia is doing.
You may or may not know but, before I was full time at home with my boys, I was a speech therapist. I spent many years during graduate school and in my career working with people with disabilities and I have such a heart for that population. Because of this, I had an instant draw to Alivia and what they are doing. Jovanna, one of the founders of the company, is truly a gem and has such a big heart. It’s easy to support a business that has great leadership and high-quality, beautiful products… it’s a no-brainer to support a business that embodies those things while also is on mission to give a voice to those that are often go unheard and showcase their unique talents.
You can use the code KARIS15 to get 15% off your purchase from Alivia. From their accessories to their clothing, every piece is such high quality and has a story which sets this brand apart from others in many (of the best) ways.
PS: Alivia’s summer collection is launching soon and the sneak peeks I have seen are fire!
Hope you have a lovely weekend. xoxo.
