[…] all packed up and in a basket by the carseat so he shouldn’t forget these. Here’s my Nurse Thank You Gifts post sharing what I did in case you missed […]
Welcoming a new little one into the world is one of the greatest joys in life and not something that is lost on me. With our second little boy due any day now, I’m anxiously awaiting his arrival while also being a bit nervous about the birth even though “this isn’t my first rodeo” ha. One thing I remember from having Bodie 2.5 years ago, was how comforted and cared for I felt from our labor and delivery and postpartum nurses. We legitimately had a wonderful hospital experience and weren’t even quite ready to come home yet. The sweet souls who dedicate their lives to taking care of hormonal women and precious newborns deserve so much love for the care they provide. Today, I’m sharing our labor and delivery nurse gifts that I put together as a small way to say, “Thanks!”
We will be delivering at the same hospital this time, but I know things will look somewhat different just because of all the Covid protocols that are now in place (ie: no visitors, etc.). I’ve always thought nurses were special people but, over the past year, I’ve had a whole new appreciation for the work they do and care they provide no matter what their speciality is in. Although these little bags are just a small way to say “thank you” for how hard these people work, I enjoyed putting them together and hope to just brighten their day a touch.
I worked with Michelle, the owner of Hunny Bee Paperie, to create the custom gift tags to add on the bags. I sent her the text I wanted with a couple of ideas for patterns and she came up with the darling design you see pictured here. She has an amazing assortment of paper goods and can do custom orders, so definitely check out her shop if you’re in the market for any of those items.
For the inside of each bag, I included a chapstick (hospital air always feels so drying), eye-masks (these are amazing for puffs and dark circles), a Pipette hand sanitizer (I love this clean brand), and three ponytail holders (a clear coil, blue coil, and leopard print stretchy). All of these little bags will be in this bin from Target and then I’m filling the front with some grab-n-go snacks (granola bars, cheez-it packs, fruit snacks, etc.).
I went back and included one of my favorite ways to get an energy boost… Awake Bites. Who would benefit from this more than nurses on a 12 hour shift (especially those night nurses). We love these bites in our house and keep them on hand constantly. You can get 25% off your purchase with code KARISRAE25 if you’re interested in trying for yourself.
These are the small, linen bags I used and I tied on the tags with this white matte raffia and this pearlized blue raffia. Of course, any of these items (raffia, tags, hair ties, etc. would be super easy to change out for pink or another color if you’re having a girl or it’s a surprise).
PS: Want to see what I did last time for nurse gifts when I was going to deliver Bodie? Find that here: Nurse Thank You Gifts. It has been of my most viewed blog posts ever, still getting hits today, so it seems as if this is a topic of interest around here.
If you’re looking to make some nurse gifts (in any speciality), I hope this gives you a little inspiration. xoxo.
