Let’s chat about backpack diaper bags for a minute, shall we? As (an almost) mom of two, I am all about being hands free. My toddler is busy, y’all… 2.5 is the age of being “on-the-move”… am I right?! With little brother due in just a couple of months, thinking about toting stuff for two to doctor appointments or to the grandparents’ houses (and keeping those necessities organized for in the car as well) was a bit daunting. I know so many girls who have preferred backpacks over traditional tote style diaper bags. I had two different tote diaper bags when Bodie when Bodie was a baby, one of them being the Momkindness Carry-All Tote Trio (find my thoughts on that bag here).
While I loved my totes and they definitely work, I feel like, especially when adding another little one into the mix, a backpack style diaper bag is the way to go. I was so excited to try the Momkindness Duo Backpack (test running before baby number two comes in April) and can now confirm, I’m not sure I will go back to a tote style ever again haha. I shared some snippets on Instagram stories last week (check my “baby things” highlight), but I’m going to break down why I love this Duo Backpack so much a bit more for you here on the blog.
PS: Read until the end for a little treat (Hint: it will save you $$).
The thing I’ve been most impressed with over the past couple of years in Momkindness products is the organization. They have mastered it wonderfully and really thought out how to provide solutions for mamas that have to tote around stuff (that’s all of us, right?). Does a backpack make you think of a dark hole where stuff piles up and you have to dig your “prize” out? Time to shift your mindset if so, because the Duo is quite the opposite. There are pockets on pockets, there’s room to fit an additional organizer of your choosing (find their organizer here), and the zipper opens down far enough so you can actually see what’s inside. They tailor to the modern mama and I love this because, stemming from that thought process, is the separate pocket on the bag of the bag for mama’s laptop, planner, a book, or whatever else you can need to store. The front pocket of the Duo holds their (also very well thought out) diaper clutch (which comes with the backpack, by the way). This diaper clutch holds a changing pad cover that matches the interior lining of the bigger bag and has room for a diaper, a few wipes, your phone, and keys. It can be worn alone just like a crossbody, for those times you might not need your whole arsenal of baby gear, or kept in the front of the backpack. It’s brilliant, honestly.
Speaking to the style of the Duo, it’s made of durable canvas and vegan leather and is available in three colors— stone, navy, and grey. Momkindness sells a variety of straps you can add to either their tote or backpack to customize your look a bit, so that’s another styling option for you as well. Another thing to note when speaking to the style is that, even if you’re not a mama, you could still use this backpack as a work bag. I’ve had teachers message me before to see if this would be something that would work for them and my answer is “absolutely!” The look is great and, again, the functionality and organization is topnotch.
I can’t end this review without mentioning one of my favorite things about this company. With every purchase Momkindness gives a portion of the proceeds to Every Mother Counts which is a non-profit organization that works to make pregnancy and childbirth safe for women everywhere. I was shocked when I read a statistic that more than 800 women a day die from complications during childbirth. Too many women around the world just don’t have access to appropriate medical care during pregnancy and delivery. That truly saddens my heart, especially now that I am a mama myself. I am a firm believer in supporting companies that support causes that help others, especially ones that I have some sort of connection with. You can learn more about this amazing organization by visiting their site, www.everymothercounts.org.
The Momkindness team was so generous to create a code for my readers and followers. You can use code 15KARIS for 15% off your purchase of $50 or more.
