Let’s talk self-care during pregnancy. Sometimes it feels like there’s a lot that becomes “off limits” when you’re expecting, whether that’s with food, activities, or products. Because, I have to restrict some of the things I used to do, I try and make sure I still implement some type of self-care. I legitimately believe that self-care is just as important, if not more, when you’re growing a tiny human than ever. Drinking all the water, taking your prenatal vitamins, resting your body, moving your body, AND taking time to pamper yourself just a little are all on the top of the list!
Over the past month or so, I’ve been trying out safe, toxin-free pregnancy skincare products from The Spoiled Mama and I’m so excited to share my thoughts with you today. I discovered this brand a couple of months ago and was immediately intrigued by the company and products (btw, the packaging is beautiful. For whatever reason, I am always obsessed with good packaging. Anyone else?). If you have followed me for a while, you know that safer, cleaner skincare and products are super important to me anyway, but especially during pregnancy and while breastfeeding. The Spoiled Mama uses ingredients from sustainable farmers and creates products free of parabens, phthalates, sulfates, triclosan, petroleum and mineral oils, synthetic fragrances, formaldehyde or formaldehyde carriers, and they never participate in any animal testing.
The Spoiled Mama is woman created and owned and out to change the way we take care of our skin during pregnancy and after with non-toxic products that nourish, prevent, relieve, and pamper! Let’s get to it… here’s my Spoiled Mama product review. Make sure to check the bottom of this post for a discount code.
I have been using the Stretch Mark Prevention Trio Set since mid-October. This trio set comes with a sugar scrub, belly butter, and stretch mark oil. All three can be purchased individually and obviously used separate but, when used in conjunction, they provide ultimate stretch mark prevention by keeping your skin super nourished and soft. Here’s a breakdown of each individual product and how I have been using them in my daily routine.
Indulge Body Polish: This was the product I expected to use the least, but is my absolute favorite of the trio. I use this in the shower every single night. It’s the most moisturizing exfoliator I have ever tried. So much so that, every now and then, if I’m feeling lazy, I skip the other steps because the body polish already has my skin feeling so soft and cared for. You can use this product all over, but I mostly focus on my belly, butt, and thighs… you know, the main areas where stretch marks will most likely show up if they decide to make your skin a home haha. I will also add in that lately I have been using it on my super dry alligator hands… it’s done wonders there as well. I also can’t forget to mention that the smell is divine (peppermint and vanilla) and makes me look forward to using this each night all the more.
Tummy Butter: This tummy butter has a silky consistency and a light citrus scent. It feels amazing on your skin and is deeply moisturizing. I’ve learned that a little goes a much longer way than you would think. I use this on my belly right after I get out of the shower and after I’ve used the body polish. Talk about silky smooth skin!
Bump Gloss: This oil is in a pump and can be used alone or with the tummy butter. It helps to nourish and increase the elasticity of your skin in an effort to combat stretch marks that often come with the weight gain and natural growth of pregnancy. Sometimes, I mix a pump or two of this oil in with a dollop of the tummy butter and apply the two simultaneously. If my skin needs a “quick” fix during the day, I’ll use a few pumps of this for a quick soothe.
This Stretch Mark Prevention Trio Set would make a great gift for an expecting mama or for yourself if you want to indulge in a little skin pampering during your pregnancy. Shop the trio here or you can click on each individual product name above to view the products seperately. Again, my personal favorite is the Indulge Body Polish… it makes my shower feel even more relaxing at the end of the day.
I have genuinely loved using these products and incorporating them into my daily routine. I love that I have an entire “bump body care” routine that I, not only enjoy using, but feel good about because of the safety and quality of ingredients. Especially with a toddler, by the end of the night, I’m tired. This new, nightly ritual adds an element of self-care to my day that I actually look forward to. Knowing that I’m also taking care of my skin while it continues to stretch for baby is the cherry on top.
I’d also like to add that if I end up with swollen feet and legs again like with my first pregnancy (wooooffff), I will definitely be trying this gel. There are also several products available specifically for the postpartum stage that I will definitely be looking into once baby is here (find those here).
My new friends over at The Spoiled Mama were so kind to offer my followers and readers a discount code if you’re interested in trying some of these products for yourself or purchasing for a gift. Use code KARIS15 for 15% off your purchase (minimum of $40).
Thanks for reading and stopping by. Hope you have a fabulous weekend. xoxo.
