Rounding up my list of Five Things from the month of June. Hard to believe how fast the summer is going by. It’s been so hot here, but getting outdoors when we can has been a great way to break up our days at home.
1. Lake Weekend
Early in the month, we headed up to the lake for the weekend with Luke’s parents. Per usual, it was a great getaway and time spent out on the boat and in the sunshine. Bodie is such a busy, little guy, but he loves to ride on the boat and just calmly sits in my lap the whole time. I tell Luke all the time that I have no problem with really long boat rides because it feels like the only time I can get some cuddling from that little nugget these days.
2. Dothan Visit
At the end of the month, we went to Dothan to spend time with my parents and for Luke to join my dad and one of his buddies on a day trip out on the gulf to fish. More often than not, I’m making the trip down by myself so it was really nice to have Luke in the car this time. Although it was a quick trip, we had a nice few days with my parents and the guys had a successful day of catching snapper. We’ve been thoroughly enjoying eating fish for dinner over the past month.
3. Father’s Day
Luke had been working tons over the few weeks leading up to Father’s Day (still is actually), so when the day rolled around, he just wanted to stay home and relax. He slept in, took a nap, played with Bodie, and then we grilled for dinner and had his parents come down to join us. If you know Luke, you know that he doesn’t slow down much so this was such a nice day for us to all enjoy being together as a family and one that was great for him to reset a little bit.
4. The Rise of the Blue Boots
If you follow me on Instagram, you have probably seen many pictures and videos of Bodie in his beloved blue boots. I’ve never seen a child love boots and shoes the way mine does… it’s adorable, honestly. Anyway, I’ve shared before, but I bought him these little blue rain boots (also available in many other colors) from Amazon for $20 and he wants to wear them every single day. People have asked me what I’m going to do when he outgrows them and there’s an easy answer. I’m just going to buy them in the next size up haha.
5. Walk at Radnor with a Friend
I met one of my friends, Taylor, at Radnor State Park for a walk at the beginning of the month and it was glorious. If you’re local to the Nashville area, you probably already know how serene Radnor is. If you’re not from around here, take my word for it. It’s a great place to walk or hike and spend time in nature. There are open paths, paths around the water, and trails in the woods. For me, spending time catching up my friend was just as great as being outside. Both were so needed and refreshing after a couple of months of being cooped up at home.
As I struggled a little to come up with a list for June that was even slightly different than the previous few months, I was reminded that there are always things to be thankful for no matter how complicated, uncertain, and just plain less than ideal the circumstances of our world are. 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 came to mind. It says: “Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.”
I encourage you to think about some things you are thankful for. Whether they are big or small, there are reasons all around us. xoxo.
