Non-Toxic Nails: Dazzle Dry Review

December 19, 2019 in Beauty
non-toxic nails: dazzle dry

Let’s chat non-toxic nails. There’s a lot of buzz about clean beauty right now and for good reason. The beauty industry is not very regulated nor is it often very transparent about the chemicals and ingredients put into products. Many of you know that I have made several clean beauty swaps over the past couple of year. I’ve been on the safer skincare bus for a while now (you can find my skincare routine here) but, up until a few weeks ago, had not carried that over into the nail space. I was thrilled to have the opportunity to try out Dazzle Dry, a non-toxic nail system that wears like a gel and dries within minutes (no UV lamp required). Today, I’m going to share a bit more about my experience with the products and overall thoughts the system.

THE PRODUCTS:

  • Nail Prep: Creates the perfect canvas for your manicure. Cleans/preps the nail plate while moisturizing and strengthening.
  • Base Coat: For use on your natural nails. This provides a base layer that allows for longer wearing color.
  • Lacquers: I would say there is “every color in the rainbow” to choose from, but that would lead you astray. There are significantly more colors than are in the rainbow haha… I’m talking, you have countless options with a plethora of different shades, coverages, and finishes. Good luck picking one to start with!
  • Top Coat: Quick drying topper that provides high shine and protection.
  • *Revive: An amazing formula that restores the consistency of top coats and polishes that have thickened up over time.
  • *Remover: Gentle and non-drying (also, it doesn’t stink).

Purchase “The System” and get everything you need (minus a lacquer color) for the perfect at-home manicure. All of the products come bundled together so there’s no need to order each of them seperately. It’s also currently on sale!

Each product is numbered, so it’s really easy to know what order to apply products in. Revive and Remover are just used as needed. The whole process is intuitive, quick, and simple (which is just what this busy toddler mama needs).

MY THOUGHTS:

Honest to goodness, I don’t know that I could love Dazzle Dry more. I have three main reasons why:

  1. Non-toxic, Quality Products: This company is all about transparency. Dazzle Dry has a catchy, little phrase that states they “create flawless nails without flawed ingredients.” I love that.Their products are made in the U.S. and free from harsh chemicals (detailed list on the site), hypoallergenic, and are all cruelty free. Alongside of their non-toxic approach to nail care, Dazzle Dry products actually work. These products deliver with an insanely fast dry time and long-lasting wear. Beauty without Compromise… check!
  2. Color Selection: I touched on it earlier, but the color selection from this line is fabulous. I currently have three colors: Forbidden Passion (a dark), Holly Berry (a red; pictured on this post), and Touch of Love (a light-pink neutral). There is everything from sheer to semi-sheer to full coverages, crème to shimmer to glitter finishes, and just about every hue in every shade that you can think of. The color selection can be sorted by different collections when browsing, which makes it simple to narrow down your options if you have a general direction in mind. No chance you will have an occasion that you can’t find the perfect color for. None.
  3. Dry time: This was the most mind-blowing part of my entire experience with Dazzle Dry. Maybe because I was only like half-believing the insanely fast dry time claim to be true before using the products for myself. Legitimately, as soon as you are finished with one step, there’s no lag time before you can start applying the next. No UV lamps, no spray, no waiting around… it’s just application and admiration. The first time I tried the process, I had about fifteen spare minutes before Bodie was going to get up from his nap. I thought there was no way I would actually complete all the steps and have dry nails without smudges in that time frame, but I decided to push my luck. I ate my words thoughts and, in that moment, decided I didn’t even care if it didn’t wear longer than 5 days because if it dries that fast, I can afford the time to redo it if necessary. Spoiler: The manicure lasted longer than 5 days and then I was really hooked.

A FEW THINGS TO NOTE:

*My base coat had a really thick, jelly like texture to it at first. Running it under hot water completely fixed that and it applied with no difficulty at all after.

*Use two layers of the base coat. I didn’t do that the first time and my manicure only lasted about a week (which is actually still good for me compared to my at-home manicures in the past). Two layers of base coat definitely increases the life of the manicure, so make sure to do that.

*Check out this “How to Use” page for an easy breakdown of how to properly apply for maximum results. It’s very helpful.

*Dazzle Dry claims that your nails will be dry within 5 minutes and the wear will last 7-14 days if the system is used and applied correctly. Based on my experience, I can back this and will give a raving review (and I’m clearly not a professional nail tech).

*Many salons now carry Dazzle Dry and are swapping over to an overall non-toxic nail experience. The Dazzle Dry website has a salon/spa locator so you can see if there are any salons in your area carrying these products.

TAKEAWAY:

Y’all, try this brand and these products! I was skeptical at first, for real. I honestly have never enjoyed doing at-home manicures, but I actually look forward to painting my nails now. Like I mentioned earlier, the dry time is just a total game changer and this whole system works effortlessly together to create a long-lasting manicure that will make you proud to tell your girlfriends that you did it yourself. Yes, the products are a little more expensive than your typical polish, but the quality of those products and results make them worth it in my opinion. Invest in a little non-toxic, self-care for yourself and save money by skipping the salon more often!

Now if I can just get a little better with filing/shaping my nails and learning to stay in the lines with my opposite hand, I’ll be all set haha. I hope this review was helpful. Please reach out if you have any questions. Thanks for stopping by. xoxo.
