How in the world are we now in the last month of the year? Mind blown. In honor of entering December (plus a few days), it’s time for me to reflect back on November. Like our other fall months this year, November was full and we were on the go quite a bit again. We spent the month making memories with family and gearing up for the holiday season ahead. Here’s my list of “Five Things” from November.
1. Auburn Game
The first weekend in November I road-tripped down to Auburn with a friend, who also graduated from Auburn, for the Ole Miss game. It was a somewhat rushed trip, but always good to be back at my Alma Mater nonetheless. We had a good day on campus wandering around and then going to the game (thanks mom and dad for giving us your tickets :)). It was very chilly, but the win was fantastic and made chattering in the cold worth it. Toomer’s was a “winter wonderland” post victory and was the perfect cap on a lovely day.
2. Dad’s 60th Birthday
A few days after I got back from Auburn, Bodie and I loaded up to head back down to Alabama to spend some time in Dothan and celebrate my dad’s 60th birthday. Luke wasn’t able to go because of a work trip, but we still had a great time nevertheless. Mom and I had planned a small surprise dinner with my dad’s golf buddies and wives (they play together every Friday and have for the past 19 years). It was a wonderful few days of hanging out and celebrating.
3. Double Thanksgving: Clarksville and Dothan
Because Luke’s family was going to be all spread out over Thanksgiving, we decided to do an early celebration the Saturday before. We played games, ate the traditional Thanksgiving meal (Luke’s dad doing a fried turkey per usual), a little post-meal shopping, and Luke went out for his regular Thanksgiving day hunt. It was fun to spend the day and celebrate a little early all together (I actually felt like it was really Thanksgiving day haha).
For actual Thanksgiving, Luke, Bodie, and I went down to Dothan to spend the holiday with my parents. We drove down Wednesday and came back on Sunday. It was great to spend time with my parents and like our other celebration, there was a lot of good eating and game playing. So much fun celebrating twice this year!
4. Sunday, November 24
There were just a lot of fun things about this day so it seemed easiest to just title it by the date. That morning was the day after our Clarksville Thanksgiving celebration and we had spent the night up there with Luke’s family. The next morning, November 24, we went to Food Lion to pick out a Christmas tree. Their trees are all $35 and seriously the most amazing trees ever (and clearly you can’t beat that price). It’s easily our favorite place to go to get a tree and the one we picked this year is a 9 foot mammoth (if you follow me on Instagram, you know from the stories of how it keeps falling over).
Luke’s parents kept Bodie for the rest of the day and night so that we could head back down to Nashville and go to the Titans game and then date night. We don’t hardcore follow the Titans, but were excited to spend the afternoon at Nissan Stadium anyway. It was actually an insanely fun game and they blew Jacksonville away. Scoring 4 touchdowns in 6 plays was pretty wild and oh so fun. After the game, we went home, spent some time unloading and trying to situate the tree before changing and heading to dinner at our favorite, Uncle Julio’s. We ended the day by lounging on the couch and finishing the second season of Jack Ryan.
5. Iron Bowl
If you watched this game (and remember that I’m a huge Auburn girl), there’s no need for me to go into too many details about how and why the actual game was so amazing. Running down on the field after was the cherry on top. We did that two years ago too… ahhh, sweet victory. I will say though, the energy in the stadium was non-stop from kickoff until the final whistle. There’s just something about Iron Bowl Saturday that elevates everyone in the best way. Auburn is only 2 hours from my parent’s house in Dothan and they still have their same season tickets from when I was a student there 10 years ago. My mom was so sweet to keep Bodie all day back in Dothan so that Dad, Luke, and I could go over for the game and to spend the day. Since Luke and I met at Auburn, we always love being back there together as it just floods memories and is where it all began. Sounds cheesy, but so true. I always love hanging out with my dad during sporting events so spending the day in my favorite city with both of my favorite men was a great way to enjoy a football Saturday. Also, the win was perfection, but again you probably already know about that!
Happy December, friends. I’m so excited to slow down this month and enjoy the holiday season. I’ve got some fun content coming soon (and giveaways on Instagram) and can’t wait to share more with y’all over the next couple of weeks. xoxo.
