Eczema Honey Co. Review

November 15, 2018 in Beauty
eczema honey co.

Real talk. I’ve battled dry skin most of my life. If I’m not constantly moisturizing, I’m in trouble. The older I’ve gotten, the more important keeping my skin soft and moisturized has become to me knowing that the choices I make now affect my future. On top of having dry skin, I’ve battled “seasonal eczema” on the back of my arms for the past 10 years or so. It usually flares up in the fall and winter months. It’s rarely visible (except when I get out of the shower… hot water aggravates it), but I can always feel it and it drives me nuts. Recently, I had the opportunity to test out a product that I’m excited to share with you today, Eczema Honey.

Eczema Honey Co. has created a product that is not only highly effective, but is also safe and natural. The packaging states that it is a “miracle healing, bacteria fighting, honest moisture, itch cooling” 100% organic cream. I wanted to use this product for a solid month so that I could give an honest review. I’m so pleased with the results and am excited to share more with you about why I have come to love this product so much.

Ingredients:

Organic Pure Honey, Organic Almond Oil, Organic Olive Oil, Organic Grated Beeswax, Organic Sunflower Oil, Colloidal Oatmeal, Pure Spring Water, and Optiphen.

In my attempts to switch over to more non-toxic and clean beauty/skin products over the past year, I was thrilled to find out that this product is organic, preservative free, and only has a few natural ingredients. In the past, I’ve used steroid creams, but with baby those are not as desirable for me to put on my skin because of potential transfer to Bodie when we’re cuddling and the possibility of what can absorb into breastmilk. I wasn’t able to use steroid creams when pregnant and don’t want to use them now with a newborn.

PS: There’s also a nut–free version for anyone who suffers from nut allergies. I was super impressed that this company created two versions of the cream so that people who may be allergic to an ingredient still have access to the benefits of this product.

Packaging and Application:

When I received the product, I was shocked at how small the container was. It’s a 4 ounce jar, but I’ve learned that a little goes a long way. The packaging is minimalistic and I like that. I’m always drawn to clean, simple packaging… anyone else?

I will say, this stuff does have a smell to it. It’s kind of a sweet, earthy smell and reminds me of honey or beeswax or something like that (fitting, right?). The smell does fade away after application. This product is a little sticky and you have to work it into the skin as it starts to melt on contact, but you get used to the texture after a few applications. A lipid barrier is formed to hold moisture in the skin. It’s important to keep the cream in the refrigerator as it is natural and without preservatives. The best thing about storing it cold is that it provides a cooling sensation to dry, flakey skin upon application and that is beyond refreshing.

eczema honeyAdditional Uses:

Obviously Eczema Honey is wonderful if you have eczema, but there are other ways to use the product even if you don’t. It works great as a deep moisturizer for really dry skin. My hands have been in rough shape lately… Luke has been calling me alligator hands and that’s embarrassing ha. My maybe somewhat excessive hand-washing and sanitizing (newborn life, y’all… germs are not welcome in our house) and washing baby bottles and dishes has already caught up with me. I’ve started putting this cream on the top of my hands/knuckles and it makes a huge difference. The cracks heal faster and after several applications, I can really feel a difference in the texture of my skin.

You can also use Eczema Honey to remove makeup, as a lip balm, and as a deep moisturizing face mask. I’m all about a multi-tasker.

 Overall Thoughts:

I love it. Whether you battle eczema or just have dry, winter skin, I can’t recommend this product enough. It’s clean, safe for littles and adults, and it works. You do need to use it consistently to see results but, if you do, I think you’ll be very pleased. If you have any questions about my experience with this product, please do not hesitate to reach out… I’d love to chat more about it. You can also visit the Eczema Honey Co. website for more information about the product, read testimonials, see before/after pictures, and place an order if you’re interested.eczema honey
