[…] Want to see what I did last time for nurse gifts when I was going to deliver Bodie? Find that here: Nurse Thank You Gifts. It has been of my most viewed blog posts ever, still getting hits today, so it seems as if this is […]
Labor and delivery nurses are special people. With childbirth being such a new, and somewhat anxiety-inducing, experience for me (and so many other first, second, and third time mamas and daddies), knowing there are people who are experts in this area to watch over the baby and me during labor, pre- or post-cesarean (if that happens), and after the birth during recovery is very comforting.
I have always loved putting together little care packages and “thank you’s” for people that make an impact on me, and I know that after delivering my little one, I’m going to feel a big sense of gratitude to those who took care of us. My mother-in-law is a retired ER nurse, and my father-in-law is a surgeon, so I have seen and heard about the many sacrifices that people in the medical field make for people they don’t even know.
I want to be sure that the hospital staff members that care for and guide me through the process really feel how grateful I am. I’ve known that L&D nurse gifts are a “thing” for several years now, and I’ve been stockpiling ideas for what to do and what items to include (a few of my ideas, including the hair tie linked below, came from a post by one of my favorite bloggers, Katey of Chronicles of Frivolity – you can see her post here).
After talking to my MIL and a L&D nurse about the number of staff members I may encounter, I settled on 12 gift bags to be safe. I included a Burt’s Bees Chapstick (because all I keep hearing is how dry the hospital air is), a Nivea Creme (because dry air, lots of hand washing- dry skin), a blue Le Pen (this is my favorite brand for pens… have y’all ever tried? So good.), a pack of Orbit (because just about everyone loves gum), m&m’s (because chocolate), and my favorite… the cutest little navy and polka dot hair ties. The backing for the hair tie says, “Thank You!… We so appreciate all you have done to help us welcome our baby boy into the world!”
Obviously, making bags like this is not necessary at all, and you can just as easily express your gratitude by your words or even a card. I just really enjoy making little gifts for people and gathered these items over my summer break in anticipation. Now I’m just praying Luke remembers to grab them when we’re on our way out the door haha. Fingers crossed…
Happy Thursday. xoxo.

Love, Love this!! You may have a male nurse/caregiver as well. Maybe have a hat pin or money clip to replace the hair tie. Maybe one or two just in case! Food for thought. Congrats and blessing sent!
