Hi friends! Hope you’ve all had a great start to your week. As of today, I’m 36 weeks pregnant. Things like finalizing the nursery, packing my hospital bag, and finishing the sweetest little loads of laundry have made everything feel so much more real. Daily life has become slightly more “difficult” and otherwise mindless tasks like putting on shoes, getting out of bed, and bending over to pick something off the floor are quite a chore these days ha. That being said, I’m living for comfort right now.
Y’all already know how much I love PinkBlush for their stylish yet comfortable clothes (remember this post here?). Loungewear is no exception and I’ve so enjoyed wearing this delivery/nursing maternity robe. Aside from how lovely it is, it’s also super lightweight, which is ideal for these warm summer days. It’s easy to wear around the house without feeling constricted or bogged down (a true luxury in the third trimester, let me tell ya). I’ve had so many people tell me that a robe is a wonderful thing to have in the hospital for comfort and nursing purposes, so I’m looking forward to taking mine to the hospital for post-delivery lounging. PinkBlush has such an amazing selection of maternity and delivery robes (there are so many color and pattern options), so if you’re in the market for one, you’re sure to be able to find one that suits you. PS: right now you can get 20% off your purchase and free shipping!
Time has flown by and I can’t believe I’m in the homestretch now. Today, I thought I would give an update of where I am, how things are going, and what all I have left to do in these last few weeks before baby. I’ll do a final third trimester recap when it’s all said and done (see my first trimester recap here and my second trimester recap here), but there is so much more that goes on in the last 12 weeks, so it has been fun to update a couple of times throughout the third trimester.
How I’m feeling:
I’m just going to be honest here… I hurt. My body is achey most of the time (especially in the mornings) and the weight of my belly is getting to me. I recently had to purchase a belly belt for support because my pubic bone was in so much pain. I’ve also recently been diagnosed with pregnancy carpal tunnel syndrome. I had no idea that was a thing, but it is and it is not fun. Basically, it’s due to fluid build up in the tissues in my wrists. It puts pressure on the median nerve causing my hands to be sore and sometimes tingle…it’s manageable, but not ideal and the absolute worst when I first wake up. I’m always getting around on my swollen feet and cute shoes are not an option for me right now anymore. Despite these daily aches and pains, it’s all still worth it knowing that I’m toting around the sweetest gift every single day. My pregnancy has been very smooth and easy, so I don’t have much to complain about and can handle these last few weeks of “uncomfortableness.”
What I’m Doing around the house:
- Packing our hospital bags
- Making to-do lists (a new one everyday it seems)
- Washing clothes (ours and baby’s… laundry never ends)
- Writing thank you notes (still so behind, but trying to finish these up)
- Birthing classes (these aren’t around the house obviously, but we go each Tuesday night and they’ve been so informative and helpful)
What I have left to do:
- Finish “fluffing” the nursery and hanging the decor. It’s the sweetest space already and I love spending time in there… I can’t wait until all the final touches are completed.
- Finish our nurse thank you gifts
- Order our crib sheets
- Have the carseat installed
SOme common questions I’ve gotten are:
- Does he have a name? I can finally say…. Yes! We have a name. We decided on his first name last week (still working on the middle though).
- Where do you buy most of your maternity clothes? I wrote a post all about it that. You can go read it here.
- How have you been prepping Harper for baby? Basically, we’ve been reading a lot of blogs and articles on dogs and baby. We’re planning to take a blanket to the hospital just to get baby’s scent on it and bring it home for Harper to smell before she meets him. We’re also messing with her some while she’s eating (because we know baby will do that in time), letting her go in the nursery A LOT and enjoy the space, working on her barking habits when the mailman and neighbors walk by (trying real hard to nip this in the bud), and giving her ALL the attention (not much different than normal if you know us) because we know things will change a bit once Little Man arrives. My mom is convinced she will be climbing in the bassinet by the bed and she’s probably right. Luke’s been toting her around in the baby carrier… the more I’m typing, the more I’m realizing we still have a lot of work to do these last few weeks because she really is the most spoiled and “babied” dog.
- Will Luke get time off from work? Yep. We are so fortunate. He gets 4 weeks of paternity leave that can be taken over a period of 60 days. He does have a trial in October though, so we are still playing around with exactly what his leave schedule will look like.
I’m so excited to welcome this sweet child into the world in just a few short weeks. I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t a little bit nervous, but it’s the most exciting nervous I’ve ever experienced. Mamas, I’d love to hear your “must have” for the hospital. Was it a robe or something else? Linking mine and a few of my favorite delivery robes below. xoxo.
