Happy June! Happy Summer! I can’t even believe we are halfway through 2018. Whether life is busy, slow, stressful, or relaxed, I always like to think about some upcoming things I can look forward to. I did a post in the beginning of May like this and have decided I will keep the trend going and post at the beginning of each month. It’ll be fun to share some things with y’all that won’t necessarily always get blogged about, and it’ll also be fun for me to look back on these posts and see what I was doing and had going on in life (both little and big). So, here’s my list of 5 things I’m excited for in June:
1. First Baby Shower For Our Little Man
I think it goes without saying, but I cannot wait for this! Our first baby shower is at the end of June back in home in Dothan. I’ve been working on registries, which has been overwhelming but fun at the same time. We are so blessed to have such sweet people that love and care about us and want to shower our little man with love.
2. A Fancy Political Event And Dinner With Hubby
Luke and I have the opportunity to attend an upcoming party-Statesmen’s Dinner in Nashville, and we’re honored to attend. I’m still trying to figure out what I’m going to wear (constantly-growing-bump probs), but am thrilled to attend nonetheless. I love fashion, being girly, and changing outfits and accessories, but sometimes I think it must be nice being a guy when getting ready for an event means just putting on a suit!
3. Pool Days And Fun Floats
Lazy summer days spent by the pool have always been one of my favorite things. I grew up in south Florida and was in the pool for about nine months out of the year, so I feel like my childhood has kind of groomed me for it. I’m also a huge fan of fun pool floats—I have a donut, a pineapple, and a heart named Herbie. Recently, my sister-in-law gave me a giant avocado (the pit even pops out of the middle… could be perfect for my growing belly) that I can’t wait to break in this year. Since I’ll be super pregnant this summer, there’s a good chance you’ll find me floating around in the water about 4–5 days a week.
4. Nursery Decorating
I love the direction things are heading for this sweet space, even though all we have for the nursery so far is a cute storage bin for blankets and art to hang over the crib. But, I have a mood and inspiration board going and feel like I have a plan! Luke and I are almost finished cleaning out the nursery room—it previously served as his home office—and are going to start ordering some bigger pieces soon. I’m using lots of neutrals, and I’m adding a wallpaper accent wall that I’m so excited about!
5. Finishing Our Outdoor Living Space
I mentioned back in May that we cleaned up and overhauled our screened-in back porch… it’s a great space and we love it! In addition to our porch, we have additional back entertaining space that we plan to take full advantage of. We are finally going to have our patio poured at the end of the month (Lord willing – construction workers have gotten a bit behind with the rainy Nashville weather lately). We are so excited about finally finishing this space out, since our old deck was pulled out back in the fall. I can’t wait to entertain here… hooray for cookouts this summer and football parties in the fall!
We just got back from Arizona tonight and it was AMAZING. I’m seriously obsessed with it out there. I’ll do a full recap soon of where we stayed and what we did. xoxo.
